30 Years of the Octavia Wagon

30 Years of the Octavia Wagon

This year marks a special milestone for the Škoda Octavia, with 2026 marking 30 years of this iconic wagon. It’s a model that has played a huge role in shaping the Škoda brand we know today, and one that continues to set standards for what a smart, practical car should be.

While the Octavia nameplate dates back to 1959, the contemporary Octavia we know and love first debuted in 1996. Since then, it has built a reputation for combining practicality, comfort, technology, and performance in one seriously smart package. Three decades and more than seven million cars later, that formula is stronger than ever.

Designed for Everyone

The latest Octavia carries on everything that has made the model so popular. With generous space, modern technology, and a host of clever Simply Clever features, it’s designed to make everyday driving easier. Plus, with its timeless design and cutting-edge features, it’s a bold companion you can count on.

Whether it’s the school run, the daily commute, or a weekend away, the Octavia has the versatility to handle it all, and it does so with the kind of thoughtful, practical touches Škoda is known for.

Skoda Octavia

Performance

The Octavia lineup in New Zealand brings mild-hybrid and turbo-petrol powertrain options, with both ensuring it’s just as at home on the daily commute as it is on a long weekend away.

Mild Hybrid Efficiency

Opening the range is the Octavia m-Hybrid, powered by a 1.5L turbo petrol mild-hybrid engine.

It uses an advanced 48V mild-hybrid system to improve fuel efficiency and lower emissions, all without compromising on performance.

With 250 Nm of torque and a 7-speed automatic transmission, it goes from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 225 km/h.

Most Powerful Octavia Yet

And for those after even more excitement behind the wheel, meet the Octavia RS.

Powered by a 2.0L turbo petrol engine producing 195 kW of power, the RS goes from 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 260 km/h.

It’s paired with progressive steering, adaptive chassis control, a 15 mm lower ride height, and a sports-tuned exhaust, bringing performance-inspired touches without sacrificing the space and usability the Octavia is known for. It’s proof that you really can have it all.

Skoda Octavia

Elegant Design

The Octavia carries a clean, timeless design that’s unmistakably Škoda. With sleek proportions and a balanced silhouette, it’s both sporty and stylish.

LED headlights sit close to the radiator grille, giving the front end a sharp, streamlined look, while the Octavia RS steps things up further with LED Matrix headlights for even more presence on the road.

From the side, aerodynamically sculpted wing mirrors, flat roof rails, and the expressive tornado line bring a sense of dynamism. At the rear, crystal LED taillights with animated indicators and Škoda lettering make sure the Octavia stands out.

Skoda Octavia

“The Octavia is a beaut blend of spirited acceleration and family friendly ride, thanks partly to the long 2686mm wheelbase. Swift, stable – just a sweet family wagon for the enthusiast.”

Your Comfort Oasis

Step inside the Octavia, and it’s clear that the wagon’s interior has been built around comfort, quality, and practicality. You’ll find high-quality materials, an ample luggage compartment, extensive connectivity, and modern technology.

With heated front seats as standard, ambient lighting, and three-zone air conditioning, the driver and passengers alike can expect exceptional comfort on every journey.

Behind the wheel, drivers enjoy a 10″ Virtual Cockpit that can be configured to display a range of different information layouts. Paired with a 13″ infotainment display with built-in navigation and wireless SmartLink for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it delivers a seamless and connected driving experience.

Simply Clever Practicality

The Octavia Wagon offers an impressive 640-litre boot, expanding to a huge 1,700 litres with the rear seats folded down.

True to Škoda’s Simply Clever philosophy, it’s the thoughtful details that make everyday life easier. From an ice scraper with a tyre tread depth gauge built into the fuel filler cap to boot hooks, nets, and a double-sided boot liner, the Octavia is designed with practicality in mind.

The electric tailgate with Virtual Pedal makes loading easy when your hands are full, while KESSY keyless entry, the Jumbo Box armrest storage, and seat pockets add even more convenience.

Technology and Safety You Can Rely On

The Octavia Wagon comes with a suite of driver assistance systems to help keep everyone on board safe, and the car has been awarded the maximum 5-star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash testing. Up to 10 airbags, a multi-collision braking system, and Crew Protect Assist all work together to enhance travel safety.

Every new Octavia also comes backed by a 5-year/150,000km warranty and 5 years of roadside assistance, along with 12 years of corrosion cover and 3 years of paint defect cover, so you can drive away with real peace of mind.
