Škoda and NZ Police Extend Fleet Partnership
Škoda and NZ Police Extend Fleet Partnership
Škoda has confirmed the extension of its long-running fleet partnership with New Zealand Police, continuing a relationship that has placed the brand behind the wheel of one of the country’s largest and most demanding vehicle fleets.
First established in 2021, the partnership saw the Škoda Superb chosen as the frontline patrol vehicle for New Zealand Police. The renewed agreement continues a collaboration that has spanned more than five years and made the Superb a familiar sight on New Zealand roads.
Five Years in the Making
Škoda was selected as the preferred frontline vehicle supplier following a rigorous testing and evaluation process. New Zealand Police assessed submissions from several manufacturers vying to supply the national fleet’s primary response vehicle, with two Škoda Superb variants emerging as the standout choice.
At the time, the New Zealand Police Commissioner unveiled the new Škoda Superb Frontline Police vehicle, citing its reliability, running-cost economy, spaciousness and performance, attributes that have seen Škoda selected for police and emergency service fleets internationally. Since then, the Superb has served as the Police fleet’s primary patrol vehicle.
According to Police data, the fleet’s transition to Škoda has contributed to an approximate 20% reduction in fuel consumption and associated CO₂ emissions compared with the vehicles it replaced.
A Continued Partnership
Under the extended agreement, Škoda will continue supplying and supporting vehicles tailored to the demands of frontline policing, including the Škoda Superb “Prime 1,” which remains the core vehicle of the Police fleet.
Škoda Auto works alongside Škoda New Zealand to build vehicles suited to New Zealand Police’s custom requirements, covering operational refinements, vehicle integration, and durability enhancements intended to meet the demands of frontline use.
Škoda’s National Network
The nationwide Škoda dealer and service network will continue to support the fleet by providing genuine servicing and maintenance.
Škoda’s Parts and Distribution Centre, which supplies components to the Police fleet, also reports a 98% first-pick rate, underscoring the brand’s commitment to efficiency and reliability.
Škoda’s Global Emergency Services Footprint
Škoda Auto currently supplies more than 23,000 vehicles to police and emergency services worldwide, with vehicles in service across Europe and other international markets, a sector in which the brand has decades of fleet experience.
The extended partnership continues Škoda’s involvement in supplying New Zealand’s police fleet, a relationship now in its fifth year. The collaboration reflects Škoda’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and public service.
